International transportation and logistics provider AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG constantly improves the range and quality of services it provides. During September 2017, AsstrA significantly boosted its railway transportation offering by entering a new partnership with Center of Corporate Transportation Services for payments for transit routes via Russia. In order to enter such a contract with the Russian Rail Service, a logistics company should meet complex requirements. AsstrA has proven the high level of its services by successfully completing the necessary verification procedures and entering a contract highly valued by many transportation and logistics companies.
From now on, AsstrA will operate uninterruptable freight transit via the territories of Russia from Finland, the Baltic States, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, China and Kazakhstan. Moreover, the service covers not only land borders, but also transit via Russian sea ports.
This new opportunity will allow AsstrA clients to optimize transport costs and scheduling. It also gives additional guarantees of the quality of services provided. This option completely eliminates the risk of having a cargo held up on the border due to unpaid transit tariff fees which may occur when a shipper uses third party for shipping codes payments.
Via this “one window” system our partners will be able to order transportation between CIS countries. This arrangement will also make it possible to process empty wagons belonging to other owners (usually from a rental park) at Russian stations.
Main advantages of this service:
Get freight forwarding pricing quotes in a prompt way thanks to the absence of attracted railway counter agents for shipments.
Our direct relationship with the Russian Rail Service allows for reduced freight processing costs.
The fewer parties in the supply chain, the easier it is to ensure the quality of services provided.
Dmitrij Mikelev, Head of the Railway Freight Department at AsstrA, explains the opportunity:
“Now, national borders won't complicate our transportation capabilities. Cargo from Belarus, Ukraine or Central Asian countries will be able to cross the borders of Russia or pass through Russian sea ports to other countries without interruption. Payment for these shipments will be executed from the account of our company – who will ensure adequate funds are available.
AsstrA specialist, as an operational representative in the Central Management System of the Russian Rail Service (ETRAN), will be able to prepare and transmit customs information about routes and cargo before wagons or containers arrive on Russian territory. Our clients can therefore be confident their cargo will cross the border without delays due to customs complications or unpaid transit tariffs.
AsstrA launches this service in November and we are already receiving inquiries. At the beginning of November, we have already planned a delivery of empty wagons from southern sea ports and a grain shipment from Ukraine to Azerbaijan."
