From June to September, the Kazakh capital of Astana is hosting the prestigious international EXPO-2017 exhibition. Basing on the theme “Future Energy,” representatives of more than 100 countries will display what makes their homelands unique in the 21st century. AsstrA played an active role in the local preparation of the Czech Republic's stand and successfully organized its entire delivery process all the way to Kazakhstan.
Exhibition representatives are sent by the highest levels of each country's government institutions, such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Czech Republic's case. The Ministry relied on AsstrA to support the transport, Czech and Kazakh customs documentation, warehousing, and distribution of all necessary equipment and components required to assemble the stand on location in Astana.
The project proved to be as challenging as it was interesting. Preparation of the stand involved transporting more than 1,000 various-sized items including souvenirs, musical instruments, hunting trophies requiring special veterinary certificates, electronics, 3D printers, and a one-of-a-kind model of a hydroelectric aircraft. Other factors requiring close attention included a tight delivery schedule and that the goods fell under wide variety of customs regimes such as temporary imports, permanent imports, and imports to be destroyed eventually. Thanks to AsstrA's in-house customs agencies, experience solving even the most unusual logistical problems, and professional employees on-the-ground in both the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan, the project was successfully completed. The multinational's experts proved their capability to serve even state governments with high competence. Since the mid-nineteenth century, each EXPO has been a major international event, comparable in importance to the World Economic Forum. Astana's EXPO-2017 is the first major global exhibition of its size to be held in a country formerly in the Soviet Union. In only its first week, the exhibition had 205,561 attendees. Several experts and key executives from AsstrA have already visited EXPO-2017 to meet customers and partners.
