Job fairs offer more than just a chance to meet hiring needs. They also present an opportunity to promote a company and its services, establish the company’s brand in the community, and also check out the competition and what they are doing.
In November 2019, international transportation and logistics services provider AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG participated in two job fairs: TransLogistica Jobs in Warsaw, Poland, and Job Transport in Bucharest, Romania. The participation made for a successful job fair debut.
“For AsstrA, the career fairs in Warsaw and Bucharest were a completely new experience, points out AsstrA HR Manager Aleksandra Pakush.
Main goal during these two events was to tell the transport and logistics industry in Poland and Romania that AsstrA is an attractive employer offering a lot of development opportunities for both experienced specialist and young beginners.”
AsstrA Bucharest Office Manager Monica-Gabriela Vasile comments: “Our first time at Job Transport in Bucharest was a very pleasant experience. It was aimed at students and graduates from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest's Faculty of Transport.
We connected with the students and graduates by speaking face-to-face with them, answering their questions and helping the students make their resumes look better. Many other companies were also participating like DSV, DB Schenker, and Kuehne + Nagel”.
“We are really happy that such a large number of students took part in the event. A lot of them came to our booth and showed great interest. We conducted many promising individual interviews. Next year, AsstrA is also planning to participate in Job Transport Bucharest”, emphasizes AsstrA Romania Country Manager Paweł Iwanow-Kołakowski.
According to Aleksandra Pakush, while it is still too early to assess the measurable benefits of AsstrA’s participation in the job fairs, it is possible to assess the emotional impact they made.
“We experienced a lot of positive emotions during TransLogistica Jobs in Warsaw. A discussion with a candidate during a job fair is not just a classic job interview. It is an informal chat in which you try to help people find out what qualifications they are lacking that are worth obtaining while they are still studying and what new challenges they can expect working at AsstrA. I was impressed with how many students are interested in working in the logistics industry, as many of them already know what they want in life. Clear motivation is half the battle in finding a dream job.
I had been convinced that job fairs were visited only by students. But at the event it was a huge surprise for me to see many different specialists with extensive experience in organizing international transport.
Despite the fact that these were the first job fairs we attended, I was very pleased that so many experienced specialists came to our stand to apply for the positions they were interested in,” concludes AsstrA HR Manager Aleksandra Pakush.
Job fairs help not only to attract potential candidates but also to build brand awareness in a given industry and establish valuable professional relations.
