Every year, ecologists are increasingly worried about the deteriorating baseline of urban environmental conditions due to population growth, infrastructure extended for more road traffic, and aggressive construction. Trees are an old solutions for this global problem.

New planted trees not only clean the air and produce oxygen but also create comfortable “green spaces” for citizens’ lives. That’s why the municipal authority of Brest in Belarus decided to celebrate the city’s thousandth year with a tremendous planting project called “1000 Trees for Brest’s Millenium.” AsstrA’s branch in Brest was one of the first organizations to join the event. The company bought tree seedlings and staff planted 25 new trees with public servants.

AsstrA stands for minimizing environmental damage, as one of the key offerings road freight. That is why we take part in such events: to live up to our responsibility!

Beside this, every self-respecting man – especially if he is an automobile-lover – has to plant more than one tree during his life. It is very pleasant to have such an opportunity in my native city and not just on my own plot of land in the countryside.

And the most important thing is that Brest’s millennium gave us a unique occasion be of service. Everything was organized on the highest level. In only hour, AsstrA team members planted an alley of 25 trees. This is very symbolic, as the company’s group will turn 25 next year. Such tasks help to build team spirit. For Brest, 2019 is a significant year – the city’s millenium.  Of course, I would like to write a line in the city’s story, even if it is only a short one. Planting trees is a good way to do so.

It’s great when the company supports municipal initiatives and contributes to the city’s development. We will keep an eye on the maples we planted over the next five, ten, or even fifteen years.

City improvement is a good idea. And when AsstrA decides to participate, it’s even better. The company itself is, first of all, all about people and humans helping each other. That is why we supported this initiative with great pleasure.

Everything was interesting. For example, now I know how to tie seedlings, and I can do the same on my own plot of land in the countryside. It is an interesting experience when you “leave your computer” and communicate with your colleagues outside the office. Out there we are not specialists like forwarders, economists, and logistics specialists, but rather real people with their own personalities and senses of humor. Such kinds of events are a chance for communication in an informal atmosphere where you can get to know your colleagues better.

One mature tree produces 118 kilos of oxygen annually. During that period, one human consumes 176 kilos on average. By planting at least a couple of trees, you can not only “green up” the environment but also provide yourself with clean air.
