Does a vehicle’s design dictate how it is used? Not always! The AsstrA team helped one client transport snow vehicles for use in the sand.
For the AsstrA corporate group’s Air Transport department, 2020 began with a request for the express delivery of two units of special equipment to an unlikely destination. The client needed to ship all-terrain vehicles with low pressure tires mainly used in snowy conditions to be delivered from Moscow to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
“At AsstrA, we receive all kinds of transportation requests. The various cargo types, requirements, and destinations rarely surprise us. This request, however, raised some eyebrows! It was to ship all-terrain vehicles used mainly in snowy conditions to Dubai, a city in the middle of a desert. It turns out that the vehicles function well in sandy and swampy conditions in addition to snowy ones,” says Lyudmila Dolzhenkova, Sales Specialist at AsstrA.
“If you can imagine it, we can ship it. Even if a client wanted to deliver snow to the United Arab Emirates, for example, we could organize vehicles with the right temperature regime,” notes Anton Sejchasov, Head of Air Cargo Division at AsstrA.
The client handled the first transportation stage independently and delivered the snow, sand, and swamp vehicles to Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. The AsstrA team handled the subsequent cargo dispatch preparation and transportation stages, including booking delivery with an airline and receiving the delivery notes. The truck with the vehicles was met at Sheremetyevo and loading facilities were ordered at the terminal. At the final stage, AsstrA specialists oversaw the unloading of the equipment and its delivery to the warehouse facility in Dubai.
The entire project lasted 5 days.
“The snow, sand, and swamp vehicles weighed a total of 2.8 tons. To unload them, the AsstrA team reserved a loader. With the help of special equipment, the vehicles were delivered to the warehouse facility,” explains Anton Sejchasov.
“The vehicles were classified as Class 9 hazardous cargo due to the fuel, brake fluids, and hydraulic fluids inside them. For dispatch, our experts promptly issued a dangerous goods declaration. We handled the preparatory stages as quickly as possible, and the cargo was delivered in strict compliance with the client’s requirements. Speed is a top priority for clients choosing air transport.”
The AsstrA teams in the company’s own representative offices at the Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports work closely with international airlines to ensure that clients receive prompt, top-quality, and competitively priced services.
