Foreign trade activities require strict compliance with the laws of the countries where business is done. It requires significant – and costly – human resources to continuously monitor changes in legal regulations and manage foreign trade effectively. By outsourcing these responsibilities, companies doing business abroad can avoid complications associated with hiring and training personnel and focus on their core competencies with minimal risks and costs.
Clients of the AsstrA international corporate group have access to a wide range of services supporting cross-border business necessities like supply chain management, distribution, import and export operations, customs clearance, responsible storage, and local know-how.
At the beginning of 2020, a Swiss premium cosmetics brand’s official representative in the Russian Federation asked AsstrA to import product samples for certification. The company specializes in masks and collagen products used for face and body care treatments in beauty salons and spa centers.
Since this was the client’s first time to handle such a project, the client turned to AsstrA make sure it ran smoothly. The logistics provider’s team promptly held a tender to select a laboratory to run the certification tests. The comprehensive services provided included:
* selection of the HS code,
* selection of the declaration scheme and the required number of samples in accordance with EEU technical regulations,
* preparation of necessary accompanying documentation related to descriptions, compositions, labeling,
* architecting the system of contractual relationships between the manufacturer, recipient, and laboratory.
As soon as the client confirmed the contract with the laboratory, the samples for certification were delivered to Moscow from the Swiss city of Epagni.
When the cosmetics samples arrived in Russia, AsstrA staff from the company’s representative office at Sheremetyevo Airport took over management of the process. With their oversight, the samples passed the customs clearance procedure, after which they were delivered from the cargo terminal to the laboratory. After 3 weeks of testing, the products received declarations of conformity and were cleared for distributed in Eurasian Customs Union.
"The client was entirely satisfied. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the AsstrA team, the products were quickly certified and the relevant import documents were prepared for the cosmetic products. For the holidays of February 23 and March 8, the luxury brand introduced – for the first time in Russia and to the delight of discerning customers – a new line of cosmetic products," says Tatyana Gayevskaya, Head of the Trade Department at AsstrA.
