Swiss group of companies AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG successfully transported out-of-gauge (OOG) and heavy cargo for the Navoi 3 Combined Cycle Power Plant Project in Uzbekistan. This complex logistics operation marks a major milestone in heavy-lift transportation across Central Asia.

The operation involved two main transformer units and associated accessories, weighing total of 463 tons, with a combined volume of 1,500 CBM. The cargo comprised:

168.8 tons | Dimensions: 10.00 m x 3.28 m x 3.93 m

290 tons | Dimensions: 9.52 m x 4.01 m x 4.70 m

The transportation of cargo was carried out using ground transport on modular trailers. The 290-ton transformer was moved on 28 axles trailers, while the 168.8-ton cargo was transported on 20 axles, with all axles being rotary.

One of the key advantages offered to the client by AsstrA was the completion of significant infrastructure work along the route between Yallama and Navoi in Uzbekistan. Two bridges were reinforced to accommodate the heavy load, which was a critical aspect of the transport process. This not only ensured the safety and reliability of the route but also resulted in substantial cost savings for the client.

The cargo traveled over 4,500 kilometers, routed through China to Kazakhstan via Khorgos before reaching its final destination at the Navoi 3 Combined Cycle Power Plant in Uzbekistan. The operation involved multiple stages of handling, including loading, reloading, improving infrastructure & bridges on the route and strict coordination at international borders. The entire journey required advanced planning, specialized equipment and cross-border regulatory alignment.

The most challenging aspect of the transportation was ensuring the safe delivery of the 290-ton transformer. Given the enormous weight of the cargo, the total weight of the transport vehicle reached approximately 450 tons. To manage such a heavy load, an additional head unit was used. Despite these challenges, the transport was completed successfully, delivering the cargo intact and on schedule.

The project required customized transport solutions and engineering expertise to navigate infrastructure constraints and ensure safety at every stage. AsstrA experts successfully completed the transportation, delivering the transformers safely and securely.
