Oversized Equipment Delivered from Shanghai to Singapore

03.03.2026

Two units of equipment exceeding standard height limits, a multimodal route combining sea freight and subsequent trucking, and tight deadlines — this was the starting point of a new client project. AsstrA organized the transportation from Shanghai to Singapore, ensuring the safe delivery of the cargo to the consignee’s warehouse.

The equipment was loaded onto two 40-foot flat rack containers:

7.08 × 2.58 × 2.9 m | 5,060 kg 7.08 × 2.58 × 3.5 m | 9,336 kg

The excess height required precise load planning and the development of customized lashing and securing schemes.

The logistics solution included:

Inland trucking across China to the port of departure; Sea freight transportation on the Shanghai – Singapore route; Final-mile delivery to the consignee’s warehouse under DAP terms.

Preparation for the sea leg was a crucial phase of the project. Prior to vessel departure, detailed stowage plans were approved, reinforced lashing was applied, and protective dunnage materials were used to ensure cargo stability during port handling operations and ocean transportation.

The carefully coordinated multimodal operation resulted in a total transit time of 13 days.

“When transporting out-of-gauge equipment, it is essential to thoroughly calculate load distribution and develop a reliable securing plan in advance. This stage determines the safety of the entire sea shipment,” said Jihong Zhang, OOG/HL Specialist, AsstrA IPL China Division.

In oversized cargo transportation, comprehensive engineering preparation and precise coordination at every stage of the route are decisive factors for project success.
