In recent years, Uzbekistan’s automotive industry sector has experienced significant growth, gradually transforming the country from one primarily reliant on domestic production to an active player in the global car market. Statistics show a sharp increase in the import of foreign automobiles into the country, partially driven by the liberalization of customs policies and government efforts to stimulate competition in the domestic market.

International logistics provider AsstrA has seen growing interest among Uzbek clients in importing cars. For instance, between November and December 2023, AsstrA helped bring 6 Alfa Romeo Stelvios, 34 Opel Astras, and Opel Mokkas into Uzbekistan from Italy, Germany, and France, respectively.

In addition to direct deliveries of finished automobiles, strategic partnerships with foreign manufacturers play a key role in the Uzbek automotive industry's development. An example of such collaboration is a project with a Citroen plant in Trnava, Slovakia, for the shipment of new models.
