Transporting two water-cooled condensers from China to Uzbekistan was a major logistical challenge. The 7.8-meter-wide shipment was destined for the construction of a combined cycle gas turbine plant in Talimarjan. However, standard solutions were not applicable, as the width of the border crossing at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border was only 7.2 meters.
Due to the cargo's dimensions, most carriers refused to fulfill this order. However, AsstrA's team of experts found a solution: they organized the dismantling of the gates and part of the infrastructure at the border, ensuring the unobstructed passage of equipment.
For transportation, trucks with swivel axles were used, allowing for maneuvering through tight turns and narrow sections of the route. Three-axle tractor-trailers ensured stable movement.
In addition to transportation, AsstrA coordinated the modifications at the border crossing, including the removal of infrastructure and obtaining the necessary permits. All safety aspects were considered, and the precise coordination of all phases minimized risks and ensured that delivery deadlines were met without additional delays.
“Project logistics always requires non-standard solutions, especially in the transportation of oversized cargo. In this case, the key success factors were detailed route planning, prompt coordination with border services, and the use of specialized transport. We not only delivered the cargo but also ensured its smooth passage along a complex route, emphasizing AsstrA's high level of expertise in project transportation management,” says Nikita Kim, Business Development Manager at AsstrA IPL in Kazakhstan.
This case demonstrates AsstrA's expertise in solving unique logistics challenges and managing complex projects. A tailored approach based on comprehensive process management allowed AsstrA to execute transportation that other market players had declined.
