In the first ten months of 2018, AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG had 19% more orders from the chemical industry than in 2017, with total turnover for 2018 so far amounting to 23 million euros.
The transportation of chemical products accounts for 0.22% of AsstrA’s total shipping volume. Russia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Italy were the most popular destination countries for the goods. AsstrA provides transportation services for chemical fibers, paints and varnishes, fertilizers, liquid chemical products, gases, and petrochemical products.
Since the beginning of 2018, the corporate group has processed 15,000 orders to transport more than 330 thousand tons of cargo.
AsstrA transports chemical products on more than 500 routes. AsstrA ships 80% of orders for this sector via road, 10% via rail, and 10% via sea.
Most of the chemical industry cargo goes to Russia. Plastics account for 50% of this cargo, with paints and inorganic chemical products accounting for 15% and 10%, respectively. During the first 10 months of the year, the most common countries of origin were Belgium with 800 shipments, Germany with 700, and France with 600.
«For 26 years we have been importing chemical products from Europe and China, exporting them from Russia, and shipping them all around Europe. In the near future, we plan to expand our portfolio of services, increase volumes, and grow our customer base in Europe, Russia, China, and America, – said Irina Gneusheva – Borodko, Chemical Products Transportation Department Head at AsstrA. « At the moment, we are completing the acquisition of 30 railway cars in order to fulfill contracts with our key customers in the agricultural and chemical industries.»
