“Our client has three factories in Italy and one in France. The majority of shipments are from Italy, and the materials in the containers are complementary. New Zealand border authorities refuse entry to any such goods in unfumigated containers. This process required more time and added an additional coordination layer. Everything was done in due course. It was a challenge to manage the fumigation. The private-sector fumigation companies must be approved by the New Zealand authorities. The containers had to leave the port, be transported to the fumigation sites, and then be brought back in time for the vessel’s departure,” adds Anne-Laure Berger.
