56 trucks, 3,000 kilometers, and only 2 months. For the AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG corporate group, autumn was full of ambitious projects.
Experts from AsstrA Industry Project Logistics and AsstrA Italy have proven that nothing is impossible. The combined team of specialists organized the transportation of special equipment via 40 standard trucks and 16 oversized trucks from northeast Italy to the Nizhny Novgorod region in Russia. The entire transportation project took 2 months.
A portion of the goods were delivered in standard tents with transshipment via a warehouse in Poland. AsstrA cargo accounted for the majority of the flow through the warehouse during this time.
As AsstrA experts note, the main challenge was finding so many vehicles in a short time given the shipper’s limited loading capacity.
“Some oversized vehicles traveled through Pontebba in northeast Italy, where the sender remotely filed an export declaration. The trucks stopped 10 km from the customs point and waited at the gas station for the declarations to be issued. This approach was necessary in order to allow access to the goods in case of a customs inspection. But no inspections took place. On the contrary, the declarations were issued promptly and the goods were cleared within an hour,” says Mariya Klementeva, Project Manager in the AsstrA Industry Project Logistics Division.
Despite the tight deadlines, AsstrA experts provided the client with the necessary copies of documents to cross the border. Also, specialists correctly filled out questionnaires for each driver to obtain passes to the customs and the unloading area.
“The task was complicated by the necessity to upload data to a special cloud service. Not filling it out correctly or loading too late could have resulted in downtime. Fortunately, AsstrA experts’ professionalism helped avoid such issues,” says Mariya Klementeva.
Teamwork is important for success with this kind of transportation. Thanks to the combined efforts and experience of AsstrA experts, the client received the ordered goods on time.
“The project will continue with more standard and oversized shipments. The main goal is keep providing the client with outstanding, world-class service,” summarizes Mariya Klementeva.
