Defining waste is easy. According to the Polish legal Act of 14 December 2012, waste is any substance or object whose holder is or will be disposing of it or has the obligation to do so. Removing waste, however, is not so easy.
At the beginning of 2018 a product, packaging, and waste management database known as the BDO was created in Poland. An amendment to the Waste Act obliges the governors of Voivodeships to participate in its maintenance. Not only production plants but also dental and medical clinics and car workshops are obliged to have a BDO number. The BDO registration number should be placed on waste transfer cards, waste record cards, and documents related to the transport of the waste. Hauliers are also obliged to be entered into the BDO register.
In November 2018 AsstrA Polska Sp. z o.o., a member of the AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG international transportation and logistics corporate group has been in the BDO register and thus had the right to transport waste from the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and bring new benefits to clients.
AsstrA Country Manager for the Polish Region Mariusz Borkowski notes:
"The BDO register, after the amendment of the so called transport package - SENT, is another duty imposed on transport companies when the legislator provides severe penalties for failure to comply with. This time, in the case of the BDO, monitoring concerns the economy and transport of waste in transit through Poland. On the one hand, we should be happy about greater transparency in transporting waste, especially products potentially dangerous to the environment. But on the other hand entering the CMR license number is an additional requirement imposed on the carrier by administrative departments which final carriage prices do not reflect.”
Currently, AsstrA Polska Sp. z o.o. has full rights to transport waste products with certain codes. AsstrA customers can benefit from services related to the transport of paper and cardboard packaging as well as the transport of waste generated during the segregation of paper and cardboard intended for use.
