With competition growing fast in the logistics industry, every service provider wants to offer Clients the best results. To achieve this goal, logistics companies are turning to automated IT systems that support supply chain processes. Clients want to place an order with one click, track it at every step of the shipment, and receive it yesterday. All that while minimizing risks, receiving consistently great service, and reducing costs.
An example of such automated technology for a logistics provider is AsstrA’s Track & Trace Visibility solution. With it, AsstrA Clients can get real-time data directly from the truck carrying their cargo, its estimated time of arrival (ETA), and additional ways to optimize internal processes based on this information. According to analyses, track & trace solutions were valued at 2.2 billion USD in 2019 with annual growth of 18% estimated.
Supply chain partners replacing old-fashioned tools with modern tracking solutions save their Customers unnecessary costs. With exact knowledge of a truck’s location and ETA, loading and unloading processes can be properly planned in advance. Warehouse staff can be assigned to the right gate on time with properly allocated forklifts and other equipment while the truck is still en route. With real-time information about possible delays, Clients can adjust their processes to avoid unnecessary costs.
In situations where storage space is limited or the cargo must reach a conveyor just-in-time, the consequences of not having accurate information about a truck’s location or scheduling can be quite significant. A one-hour conveyor freeze is very expensive and a warehouse without proper capacity can leave retailers with redundant stock. Accordingly, not knowing goods´ ETA can lead to dramatically inflated supply chain costs, the risk of which could otherwise be avoided with a track & trace solution.
To meet the needs of the market and Сustomers’ requirements, the AsstrA corporate group partnered with Shippeo, a European supply chain visibility solution provider. As a result, transportation is now more transparent for AsstrA Customers, who can now track all cargo shipments from start to finish. With AsstrA Track & Trace Visibility, Сustomers can access real-time truck location data, receive automated notifications when trucks reach important checkpoints, and know their ETAs at delivery sites.
Currently, AsstrA Track & Trace Visibility is available exclusively for road shipments, with rail and sea shipments to be supported in the near future. Further improvements to the system will enable goods to be tracked at stations and ports during loading and unloading.

“Our goal is to be able to anticipate unexpected events. Instead of wasting time verifying that plans are on track, teams can identify unpredictable challenges early and devote their resources to finding solutions. In the future, the system will automatically adjust plans when necessary. For example, it will find a new slot to unload cargo if the original one is not available. And, of course, AsstrA specialists will use the solution to save time and money by optimizing warehouse operations and planning,” adds Vitali Eremenco, Deputy COO for Road Freight Transportation at AsstrA.
