The year 2020 will go down in history as an inflection point where life – as we knew it – changed. Previously forgotten basic truths took on newfound significance. Face-to-face conversations with loved ones and evening walks in the park became more valuable than the latest gadget or fashion accessory from a new collection. Doctors began to receive sincere applause, and everyone remembered that good health is in fact the most important possession.
Over the past three months, the demand for medical products has grown significantly. There has been a corresponding impact on the number of transportation orders. For the AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG international logistics corporate group, every project related to countering the COVID-19 pandemic involves heightened responsibility. It's about people's lives.
In May this year, AsstrA completed an urgent delivery of high-tech medical diagnostic equipment components from the manufacturer in Germany to Russia. AsstrA identified the best potential delivery schemes, and the client chose the best option in terms of scheduling and cost. The components weighed 3 tons and were delivered by road.
"Taking into account the importance of the cargo, the client had a number of mandatory requirements for transportation:
• delivery time not exceeding 4 days,
• two drivers on the way, and
• GPS tracking for the cargo. The timeframe was a challenge. In addition to transportation itself, all export, transit, and customs documentation had to be completed in no more than 4 days," says Lyubov Sakharova, Customer Relations Specialist at AsstrA.
All the cargo, consisting of x-ray equipment components, was delivered from the German city of Espelkamp to St. Petersburg in a total of 3 days. Thanks to the excellent teamwork of AsstrA’s German and Russian representative offices, auto delivery was completed in a record 48 hours instead of the maximum allowable 96.
"According to the client, the AsstrA team completed this challenging assignment "perfectly" and will be chosen to handle more such orders in the future,” adds Lyubov Sakharova.
