AsstrA Overcomes Surprise Challenge to Keep Model Airplanes Flying High

25.08.2020

According to Wikipedia, professionalism is a characteristic of people who systematically, effectively, and reliably perform professional activities in a wide variety of conditions. In other words, it involves more than thorough knowledge and experience in a given area; it also involves an ability to find creative solutions – with minimal downsides – to unpredictable challenges. Therefore, working with professionals should guarantee original, effective solutions even when faced with tricky situations.

One steady AsstrA client requested delivery of a batch of collectible aircraft models from Bangladesh to Russia. According to the specifications, the cargo was standard and not dangerous with a total weight of 1 ton. The products were fragile, and safety is achieved through careful packaging and monitoring at every stage of transportation. Taking into account these characteristics and the requested deadlines, the AsstrA team planned for delivery by air. But what happens if you send planes by sea?

Lilia Yanushkevich

"We have been working smoothly with this client on this route for a long time. There was no indication that we might have unexpected difficulties, but the human factor can never be totally avoided. The sender made a mistake, and the cargo went by sea in a different direction – to Ukraine," comments Lilia Yanushkevich, a Specialist in the Container Department at AsstrA.».

There was no time to panic. We managed to solve the problem quickly, deliver the cargo to its destination, and meet the deadline thanks to the AsstrA departments’ synergies. In the port of Hong Kong, where the container ship went for refueling, the collectible models were removed from the ship and placed in a temporary storage warehouse. Then the cargo passed the necessary customs formalities and verification of markings.

"Part of the cargo needed to be urgently delivered to the destination, so we could not route the client’s shipment through Moscow. Our representative at the port monitored the disbandment of the batch of collectible models into two parts. The first part continued on by sea, and the second was sent by air. The Aviation Department’s team promptly chartered space on the next cargo flight and the cargo safely flew to its destination. The planes were where they should be – in the sky, " says Liliya Yanushkevich.

"Big thanks to AsstrA for your efforts and professionalism," were the words the client ended the project with.
