The Association of Romanian Freight Forwarders (Uniunea Societăților de Expediții din România, or USER) is a Romanian association of transport companies, including logistics providers and customs agents. The association’s members transport 10% of the cargo shipped in this Balkan country. In February 2021, AsstrA Forwarding Romania SRL joined the association.
USER has established business partnerships with other international freight forwarding associations and European regional communication commissions, including FIATA, UIRR, IATA, UNECE and CCIR. It represents and advocates the economic, financial, and technical interests of Romanian logistics companies, shipping companies, and customs brokers both domestically and internationally. USER also works to standardize regulations, procedures, and transport documentation.
The association works closely with industry publications, where it publishes specialists’ articles about logistics and transport projects, member profiles, and information about events in Romania and abroad. It also organizes delegations to international and Balkan FIATA congresses to help attendees build and source appropriate logistics solutions.
The Association of Romanian Freight Forwarders also co-organizes trainings covering road, sea, rail, multimodal, and container transport solution as well as associated topics like insurance and customs brokerage.

“Thanks to our membership in the association, we can benefit from partnership agreements with other national and global associations. USER is a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and is the only organization in Romania authorized to manage and issue FIATA transport documents. In 2021, we plan to develop our sea transport capabilities, so USER membership is another step forward here,” says Pawel Iwanow-Kolakowski, AsstrA Romania Country Manager.
By joining the association, AsstrA has gained more credibility among clients, who can trust the company’s high-quality services and ability to protect their financial interests.
Currently, USER has 138 members, 64 of which are also FIATA members. Together with its members, the organization aims to strengthen the role of freight forwarding in local Romanian transport markets and beyond.
