In the spring of 2022, Swiss transport and logistics multinational AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG opened its first Georgian office in Tbilisi. The AsstrA Georgia team leverages all transport modes to ship a wide range of goods, including heavy, oversized, bulk, liquid, and alcoholic beverage cargo.
Railways play an important role in the transport network and supply chains of the Caucasus region. Goods traffic pass through this network from Europe to Central Asia, China, and the Persian Gulf. A key trunk rail segment runs from West to East. All together, the Georgian rail consists of 1,600 km of track.
In July 2022, AsstrA Georgia obtained its own rail transit code, which allows customers to take advantage of smooth transit of goods across the Caucasus.
"Having our own account to settle rail tariff payments for both import/export and transit shortens transportation project time and minimizes unnecessary contact with carriers. Upon customer request, AsstrA specialists will promptly provide cost quotes for projects of any complexity in Georgia. We can settle any administrative costs directly, so our customers’ schedules and budgets are optimized. For partners, we organize transportation according to a "one-stop shop" principle with a local AsstrA team overseeing processes and taking into account local regional requirements,” says Dmitrij Gerber, Head of the CIS Rail Freight Division at AsstrA.
