Bulk cargo includes homogeneous bulk substances divided into two groups:
- food products including flour, salt, sugar, crops, dry milk whey, and malt, and
- non-food products including sand, gravel, talc, polypropylene, polymers, anthracite, and metal.
In this category some dangerous cargoes can also be found like manure, silica, sodium carbonate, and calcium carbonate.
Transportation of such substances requires compliance with multiple regulations. Thus, bulk substances cannot be loaded above the sides of the vehicle and should be distributed evenly across the vehicle body. While the vehicle is moving, the cargo is covered with material that does not allow spillage.
